It is important for kids to understand that they need to eat a variety of different colored foods each day to ensure they are consuming a balanced diet.

Try to pick recipes that highlight a variety of colors in each meal. This provides an opportunity for you to talk with your children about the significance of eating from all of the five food groups: grains, vegetables, fruits, milk and meat and beans.
