BLEND program encourages families to participate in National Family Dinner Night Sept. 21 St. Cloud, Minn.- Research shows the more often kids eat dinner with their families the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs, and the more likely they are to score high marks in school and eat healthier as young adults.

For this reason, BLEND (Better Living: Exercise and Nutrition Daily) and its community partners are encouraging all families to participate in National Family Dinner Night Sunday, September 21. BLEND is making it easy and inexpensive by providing a healthy spaghetti dinner menu and partnering with Coborn's, Gold'n Plump and General Mills to provide these healthy food items at a reduced cost

“This is a great way to increase awareness about the importance of the family meal, and we hope it will encourage families to eat together more often,” said Jodi Rohe, BLEND program coordinator for CentraCare Health Foundation.

The spaghetti dinner menu for four includes: 20 oz. ground chicken; whole wheat pasta; spaghetti sauce; romaine salad; and yogurt. Menu item coupons will be available in the Sept. 14 St. Cloud Times.

BLEND is a local coalition committed to improving the health of children in Central Minnesota by reducing the epidemic of childhood obesity. It is funded through the CentraCare Health Foundation. Learn more at blendcentralmn.org.
